HSE EE Alumni 2009 Chinese New Year Dinner

On 17 Jan 2009, the Singapore EMBA Alumni for HSE EE (ACE Club) organized a Chinese New Year celebration at the Huang Ting Restaurant, Clarke Quay. Both current and graduated students joined in the joyous occasion with Professor Juhani Vaivio and Ms Cecilia Ow from the University invited as our special guests.
The dinner celebration began with its most important dish of “Yusheng”. This is a Chaozhou-style raw fish salad that usually consists of strips of raw fish (most commonly salmon), mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces and condiments, among other ingredients. “Yusheng” is a must-have dish for Chinese New Year celebration. It signified abundance, prosperity and vigor.
To mark the start of a prosperous new year, it was customary for everyone to toss the shredded ingredients of “Yusheng” into the air with chopsticks and saying well-wishes aloud. During the dinner, current students also shared their enthusiasm for the EMBA program while graduated students contributed their wealth of experience during their learning journey.
To conclude, the celebration was filled with fun, jubilation and lots of interactions. It marked the beginning of a great year ahead. ACE Club wished all in HSE EE EMBA program good health and a successful 2009!
